Install on Windows

Use the Windows installer or the portable ZIP, keeping each package's files together.

Guide based on source version 2.0.1-rc.7. Screenshots show the English interface of a prerelease edition; their values illustrate examples, not necessarily defaults. Packages on Downloads may differ: review their release notes and saving options before processing.

Preparation

Use 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 on x86-64 hardware; Windows 11 is preferred. Check the requirements and validation status. Download packages from Releases.

Installer

  1. Close other Yagua instances and wait for their operations to finish.
  2. Run Yagua_Setup_<version>.exe.
  3. Choose the setup language and follow the installation steps.
  4. Enable the optional desktop shortcut if you want one.
  5. Finish setup and open Yagua from Start or the new shortcut.

The setup language is separate from the app language, which you choose in Settings. The current installer suggests a Yagua folder in Program Files and may need Windows installation permissions.

If Windows displays a warning, verify the file’s source and integrity. This guide does not require turning off system protections globally.

Portable ZIP

  1. Download Yagua_Portable_<version>.zip if that release provides it.
  2. Extract the whole ZIP into a writable folder, for example Documentos\Aplicaciones\Yagua.
  3. Open the extracted folder and run Yagua.exe.
  4. Keep the executable and all accompanying files and subfolders together.

Do not run the app inside the ZIP viewer or move only Yagua.exe. Its libraries, resources, and fonts are required.

Portable does not mean everything stays in that folder. Preferences and logs use your Windows user profile; AI models can also live outside the program folder. Moving the executable to another PC does not guarantee that models or preferences move with it.

First launch and updates

The home screen offers the available tools. An update notice may appear. Updates are installed manually: close Yagua before replacing a portable package or running a new installer.

For a portable update, extract the complete new version into a separate folder instead of mixing libraries from two versions. Store originals and results outside the app folder.

Run from source, optional

Source users need Git and Python 3.13. In PowerShell:

git clone https://github.com/GuilleBouix/Yagua-Image-Processor.git
cd Yagua-Image-Processor
py -3.13 -m venv .venv
.\.venv\Scripts\python.exe -m pip install --upgrade pip
.\.venv\Scripts\python.exe -m pip install -r requirements.txt
.\.venv\Scripts\python.exe main.py

Dependencies include OCR and AI libraries and can use substantial disk space. You do not need this setup for the installer or portable package.

If the app does not open

Confirm you extracted the entire package, chose Windows, and have the right architecture. Check the error log. Installing libraries into a separate system Python does not repair a prebuilt package.
