Your first operation: convert a photo to WebP
Make your first JPEG-to-WebP conversion in Yagua. Prepare a copy, check the output and learn the image selection and saving workflow.
Guide based on source version 2.0.1-rc.7. Screenshots show the English interface of a prerelease edition; their values illustrate examples, not necessarily defaults. Packages on Downloads may differ: review their release notes and saving options before processing.

Preparation
Create two folders, for example Prueba-Yagua/entrada and Prueba-Yagua/salida. Copy a JPEG photograph into the first and call it foto.jpg. This operation does not need model downloads.
WebP is a common image format for websites. Quality balances detail and file size: a higher number usually retains more detail, but it is not a guaranteed fidelity percentage.
Step by step
- Open Convert from Home or the sidebar.
- Click Select images and choose
foto.jpg. - Check that it appears under Files loaded. The thumbnail confirms selection; it does not preview final compression.
- Under Convert to, select WEBP.
- Leave Quality at 90, this module’s initial value.
- Under Saving, select Create copies and click Convert.
- Choose
Prueba-Yagua/salidain the output-folder dialog. - Review the copy and replacement confirmation, continue, and wait for completion. Check for errors or filename conflicts.
Canceling folder selection does not start conversion. Some controls are disabled while processing to prevent selection changes during the operation.
Check the result
Open the output folder and find foto.webp. Open it in a compatible viewer and inspect orientation, colors, and detail. Compare its size with the JPEG without assuming it will always be smaller.
If that name already exists, Yagua finds an available name such as foto_1.webp. Do not confuse it with an earlier result. The original foto.jpg stays in the input folder.
Keep working
To change dimensions too, open Resize and load the saved WebP. Tools do not automatically pass results to each other.
Clear empties the selection; it does not delete disk files or undo saved results. For another test, load or keep the selection as appropriate and choose an output folder you can recognize.
If something goes wrong
-
No loaded file: select the image before converting.
-
Read error: try another JPEG that opens correctly in a viewer.
-
Write permission error: choose a folder in your user profile.
-
Unexpected appearance: review format limitations and try another copy of the original.
