Prepare images for sharing
Review visible content and metadata before sharing. These checks do not guarantee anonymity.
Guide based on source version 2.0.1-rc.7. Screenshots show the English interface of a prerelease edition; their values illustrate examples, not necessarily defaults. Packages on Downloads may differ: review their release notes and saving options before processing.

Choose what to remove
Decide whether you need to remove GPS alone or clean metadata more broadly. If authorship information or color matters, test a copy first. Keep originales/ and para-compartir/ separate. Yagua does not upload the result automatically; choose the final copy when sharing.
1. Inspect the metadata
Open EXIF Metadata → View and inspect the recognized fields. Export TXT or JSON if you need a private record. A report can contain GPS coordinates: do not attach it accidentally.
The viewer does not enumerate every possible metadata block.
2A. Remove GPS only
For a supported JPEG or TIFF:
- Copy the file into your output folder before opening the editor.
- Open Edit, open that copy from the shared list, check its filename above the form, and set Saving to Create copies.
- Select Remove GPS location from the image, without changing other fields.
- Click Save…, choose Open image, select an output folder, and review the confirmation.
- Select it again in View and check the result.
This removes the GPS block, not location text in comments, descriptions, or visible pixels. The editor attempts to retain other unedited EXIF data.
2B. Clean a batch
- Open Clean batch and load up to 100 images.
- Check the images to process and choose Create copies under Saving.
- Click Clean checked images, choose
para-compartir/, and review the confirmation. Copies retain the base name, adding a counter for occupied destinations.
Cleaning creates copies, normalizes orientation, and re-encodes the images. JPEG uses quality 95; size and color can change, and color profile retention is not guaranteed. There is no selector for retaining individual tags.
3. Check visible information and names
Look for faces, license plates, documents, reflected screens, addresses, and names in the pixels. EXIF cleaning does not blur them.
If filenames reveal information, use Batch Rename on the working copies and review Preview before renaming.
4. Inspect the final file
Open the exact copy you intend to share. Check the image, orientation, color, and recognized metadata fields again. Attach that file, rather than the original.
Use a specialist tool if you need to inspect every part of the file container. These steps are not an anonymity certificate.
